Sugar-Free Almond Milk Mahalabiya with Rose Water

By the Healthy Plate team

Healthy Mahalabiya

Mahalabiya is one of the oldest Arab desserts, loved for its rose water and cardamom aroma. The traditional version uses full-fat milk and lots of sugar; ours uses almond milk and natural sweetness.

Ready in 10 minutes and keeps in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use regular milk?

Yes — low-fat milk works and adds more protein.

Why didn't it set?

It probably needed more cooking — stir on low heat until it coats the back of a spoon.

Is it okay for diabetics?

Better than the classic since there's no added sugar, but cornflour is still carbs. Keep portions small and check with your doctor.
